TENNIS: WORLD CHAMPIONS IN ROME, RECORD TICKET SALE

(AGI) - Rome, 26 Mar. - Federer, Nadal and Djokovic among the men; Justin Hennin, Ana Ivanovic and Jankovic among the women: ATP has officially confirmed today the entry list for Italy's BNL international tournament that will take place in Rome from 3 to 18 May on clay at the Foro Italico. There will be an exceptional presence of world champions this year. The tournament belongs to the Master Series (the nine most important tournaments in the world after the Grand Slam). This year it reaches its 78th edition. 'According to Master Series rules, the first 44 players in the world are directly admitted,' says a statement issued by the Italian Tennis Federation. Among them there are two Italians: Potito Starace (nr 37) and Filippo Volandri (nr 42). The entry list of the women's competition is not ready yeat and will become official next week. Record highs so far in terms of ticket sales (+150 pct compared to the same period last year) and in terms of subscriptions (+20 pct compared to 2007).More Details>>
